Our Favorite Son

In June, my son Dylan finished up his Junior year at University High School and is now officially a Senior!  I really can't believe how quickly he is growing up.  I know it sounds so cliche to say that but, it is true.  Dylan is a great kid and we are more and more proud of him and the good choices he is making in his life.

He has had a lot  of physical ailments this past year and a half or so beginning with dislocating and breaking his ankle during a church basketball game.  He's had his wisdom teeth out, with no complications, and a surgery to have a cyst removed.  He's about to have that surgery repeated as is it not healing due to other cysts being present - ugh!  A month before school was out he re-injured his ankle causing him to be on crutches again for a month.  I mention all of this because it is a lot for a kid to go through in a short amount of time.  Dylan has handled all of this like a champ.  He rarely complains, has taken things a step at a time following doctors orders (for the most part) and has managed to keep a positive attitude.

In June he was able to go on a pioneer trek with the youth in our church.  He hurt his ankle after the first day but didn't let it get him down.  He came home with a positive attitude grateful for the spiritual and fun experiences he was able to have while he was there.  When he got home he started a new job with Les Schwab Tires and has been working hard for them this summer.  He is looking forward to having cash to save and spend that he has worked hard to earn.  On July 4th, he turned 17!  We love you Dylan, our favorite big brother and son.
